Live-in Home Care
Live-in Care Workers are employed to work with clients on a 24 hour basis to provide care and support to the clients as detailed specifically in the care plan provided for each client. All clients are individuals who will have received a person -centred holistic assessment of their needs which forms the basis of their care plans. The role of the care worker is to meet their clients needs and to ensure they are supported as detailed in their care plan ensuring at all times that their privacy, dignity and independence are maintained. This will include not only assisting with the client’s personal care needs but also their social welfare. The role may include shopping, cooking and will include light housekeeping duties . Care packages will vary from providing companionship care through top roviding palliative end of life care and care worker pay rates will vary accordingly. Care worker must work as directed by the Registered Manager and detailed in the individual care plan. The aim of 24 hour live in care is to enable clients to remain in their homes with as much independence as possible, carrying out the tasks in a professional, discreet and caring manner whilst
respecting the clients’ dignity, privacy, property and confidentiality.
Live-Out Home Care
Live -out caregivers does exactly the same duties as live-in care givers except the do not live with the patient. The aides will work as needed either during the day or night and then go home. Live-out care can still cover 24 hours , however they work in shifts. The usually work 3 x 8 Hour shifts or 2 X 12 Hour shifts.They will work in shifts if the case deems it neccessary. usually when the patient dont not sleep at nights or need someone close by and alert 24 hours.
The RN starts out the case by assessing the patient and home to ensure that the patient and the patient's home is suitable for homecare. Then the Rn will write up a Care Plan for the Aide to follow. The RN will contineously supervise the aides and will make home visits every 3 months to monitor the patient as per DOH requirement.
